OUR MATERIALS

Raw materials including steel, marble, brass, walnut and tiles reflect the raw materials in cheese making (milk, salt, rennet & cultures) and will age gracefully, providing a beautiful lived-in feeling as we grow.

OUR CHEESE ICON

Using steel beams and Aluminium 3D lettering with traditional gas operated Neon inlays, we aimed to create a timeless design for the shop that will age beautifully with the raw materials chosen for the fit out.

Our Taverna cheese icon sign, installed at a visual vantage point throughout the Harvest Hall, is visible from each entry way.

The colour of the poster wall together with the gentle illumination draws your eyes and wonderment to what our shop is about. You then notice the beautiful cheeses so elegantly displayed; you taste with your eyes before you taste with your nose and mouth.

OUR CHEESE COUNTER

Custom-designed by owner Anthony Femia, our 7m long cheese counter ensures no interruption of sight for the customer while the face of the cheesemonger guides them through the cabinet.

The display is statically chilled to create an ambient environment of high humidity and gentle chilling, ensuring each and every cheese is in optimum condition.

We’ve also installed a viewing window into our Maturation Cellar, allowing guests to see the beautiful cheeses ripening on the poplar wood shelving.

OUR LOGO

Our Logo was hand-drawn by the team at Studio at Large with the aim to evoke memories of the great signs and logos of European shop fronts during the Art Deco era. Think Martini, Venchi and Orangina amongst others.

Our Logo Background takes its inspiration from the view of the Swiss Alps as you stand next to Zurich Lake. It reflects the green and blue hues of the distant Alps and their rugged texture.

The textile layers and textures takes its design elements from the antique Swiss travel posters.

OUR POSTER WALL

Our poster wall was installed to create a sense of joy as you enter the Deli Hall. Each poster takes playful design and colour inspiration from the great Frenchman, Raymond Savignac, and the textural elements of the antique Swiss travel posters of the 1930s & 40s.

Each poster represents an element of what embodies Maker & Monger. The American Walnut bench seat by Arteveneta allows patrons to take a seat and enjoy their surroundings in a joyful and calm setting amongst the flowers of our neighbours, Flawless Flowers.
