Maker & Monger are looking for people of all experience and age to join our team and begin or continue your journey in the world of cheese & wine.

Led by Anthony Femia, Australia's best cheesemonger, our shop features a purpose-built maturation room, a 7-metre long climate-controlled cheese counter and a kitchen offering - not only our world-famous toasties, but a selection of seasonal cheese dishes utilising the quality produce surrounding us at Prahran Market. We have recently added a fantastic wine selection of boutique and delicious wines which complement our offering and has opened a world of possibilities for you to learn whilst enjoying tasting and teaching these wines.

Tasks & responsibilities

·       Knowledge of M&M cheese & beverage selection and able to sell and upsell with ease and confidence in a fast paced environment

·       Value excellent, personalised customer service and possess strong communication skills  

·       Have a commitment to delivering an unforgettable and sincere cheese experience for M&M customer

·       Follow health and safety protocols 

·       Maintain quality standards and cheese care requirements

·       Work to create customer loyalty through individualised service

·       Weekend work is essential as well as some evenings when we host events on or off-site

·       Working off-site events - delivery, set up, pack down and provide high levels of customer service to ensure the smooth running of events

·       Working autonomously towards a common goal and as part of a vibrant team

Qualifications & experience

·       Current RSA

·       Drivers licence

·       Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices

·       Love of cheese a bonus

·       Basic understanding of wine and beer. WSET Level 2 or above is a huge plus! 

·       High level of cleanliness of work and personal hygiene

·       Ability to work within a small team without ego or agenda

·       Proficiency in English

·       Customer service focus

·       Friendly, helpful, confident, and engaging personality

·       Basic administration skills

·       Familiarity with consumer behaviour principles

·       Basic math skills

·       Excellent communication skills, capable of building trusting relationships

·       Ability to perform in fast-paced environments

·       Flexibility to work various shifts and weekend work is compulsory
