Karine and Cyril Alonso’s ampelographic conservatory of ancient vines near Marchampt in south-western Beaujolais is home to over 140 varieties. Working with just 1.5 ha, surrounded by forest, takes a deeply considered approach to the farming and this is echoed in the winemaking.

Art Brut is the Alonso’s multifarious and downright delightful spin on a ‘field blend’ -
encompassing fruit from all their parcels in 2021; including the 31 varieties of Gamay that reside here. For all the layers, this is such a precise, light and seriously elegant wine.
